Owl Song at Dawn

Owl Song at Dawn captured by Legend Press

It is my very great pleasure to share with you the news that Legend Press has acquired my novel, Owl Song at Dawn, which they will publish mid-2016.

Since the novel was inspired by my autistic sister, I feel particular gratitude to the team at Legend for their commitment to celebrating the kinds of voices that have been silenced until now.

Below is the press release.

Legend Press is delighted to announce at the Frankfurt Book Fair 2015 the acquisition of World English rights for Owl Song at Dawn by Emma Claire Sweeney. The novel, represented by Veronique Baxter at David Higham Associates, will be published as a lead title for mid-2016.Emma_Claire_Sweeney_1

Owl Song at Dawn was inspired by the author’s autistic sister and is an uplifting and powerful debut about an eccentric spinster who spends a lifetime in Morecambe Bay, trying to unlock the secrets of her exuberant yet inexplicable twin.

Emma Claire Sweeney, who writes about disability for the national broadsheets, is a multi-award-winning author. Her prizes include Arts Council, Royal Literary Fund and Escalator Awards.

Lauren Parsons, Commissioning Editor of Legend Press, commented: “We are very excited about adding Emma’s novel as a standout in an already very strong fiction list for 2016. Owl Song at Dawn is inspirational for its origin and captivating in the story it tells.

“It is a novel that stays with you long after the final page and has that rare gift of making your life feel slightly changed for having read it. We can’t wait to publish it.”
