It was such a thrill for me to see my name next to that of Elizabeth Strout, one of my favourite contemporary writers on the longlist for the Guardian’s Not the Booker Prize.

Unlike the Booker, this prize is judged by the public. In order to see your favourite book of the year reach the shortlist, please vote by August 14th.

You will need to choose two books from the longlist from two different publishers, and accompany those votes with a short review of at least one of your chosen books. It would also be very helpful if you included the word “vote”.

The review should be something over 100 words long, as their Terms and Conditions state, they won’t be counting particularly carefully. Just make it look like you care!
